Plan to spruce up a vacant property on South Baldwin Street to make way for an 11-room hotel with cafe at 412-414 S. Baldwin St. received approval from Madison’s Plan Commission last week, according to The Capital Times.
Marquette Hotel and Cafe developer James Montgomery owns the two-story building at 412 S. Baldwin St. that previously housed a day care and, before that, a church. A three-story structure on the adjacent parcel to the south, which Montgomery also owns, is in the works.
The Cap Times reports nine of the 11 hotel rooms would be in the addition, which would also feature a ground-floor cafe. The remaining two rooms and a caretaker’s unit would be located in the existing building.
Plans show six bicycle parking spaces and 20 hotel-owned bikes would be available for hotel guests to use for free. No off-street parking is included in the plan.
