The Madison Plan Commission is considering a proposal from Core Spaces for a new seven-story, 107-unit housing project at 126 Langdon St., according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport.

Core Spaces is the developer for The Hub and The James apartment buildings near the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus. Consideration of the proposal with public comment lasted nearly two hours as several individuals spoke in support of and against the project.

Students from the university spoke out against the development, alleging the developer has been improperly offering special benefits to students who support the project. The students at the meeting say they have collected more than 1,800 signatures on a petition opposing the project.
