According to NBC15, Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) will host a Wear Orange rally on Friday, June 2 to advocate against gun violence.

The rally supports Everytown of Gun Safety, a campaign that unites community members to end gun violence and promote safer neighborhoods.

The Wear Orange movement stemmed from the shooting of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton by a Chicago man. Wearing orange is representative of the color hunters wear for protection.

The rally will begin at Meadowood Park at 5 p.m. It will include food, music, speeches, and children’s activities. PHMDC will provide gun violence prevention resources as well.
