Pfizer is reporting a drop in COVID-19 vaccine sales by 25% to begin the fall season due to federal regulators narrowing recommendations on who should get them, according to an Associated Press report.

Pfizer saw U.S. sales for the vaccine drop to $870 million in the third quarter of 2025, down from $1.16 billion in the same time frame last year.

Approval for the updated shots arrived several weeks later as well, which also hurt sales.

Fall is known as vaccine season, but COVID-19 shot purchases have been declining.
