The DNR told Wisconsin Public Radio that it may begin some PFAS mitigation work in the fall.
Grant programs will be set up to address PFAS contamination across the state after $133 million was provided during the last legislative session.
According to the DNR, it will begin by focusing on PFAS sampling via community grants, using about $80 million of the money provided.
The PFAS bills still need to be signed by Governor Tony Evers, but it is expected he will as he has supported pursuing the “forever chemicals” to keep Wisconsin water healthy.
