A Change.org petition to “Let Wisconsin Golf” was started March 25 and has received more than 30,000 signatures as of March 27. The petition by course owners and other golf organizations is requesting that Gov. Tony Evers reconsider golf courses being included in the “Safer at Home” order closures, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal. Organizers of the petition argue that golf should be included in the outdoor activities allowed under the order.
Wisconsin holds a minority position among other states by including the closure of golf courses among the nonessential businesses being shut down. Course owners are currently reaching out to representatives and the Wisconsin PGA will be working on next steps to present a case to the state for golf courses to be opened for play.
