State Street’s Paul’s Book Store will close in early 2025 after over 70 years in business, WMTV15 reports. Opened in 1954 by Paul Askins, the bookstore relocated to 670 State St. in 1962 and has operated there since.

Askins’ wife, Caryl, took over the business in 1975 following his unexpected death. While a specific reason for the closure was not provided, Caryl Askins said, “It’s time to say goodbye.”
