Madison’s Parks Division is set to conduct an experiment that would generate new revenue from parking fees at city parks, according to The Capital Times. It will first need to develop plans for the pilot program, with guidance from the Board of Park Commissioners, and then provide a window for residents’ feedback before beginning to charge the fees at some parks by mid-2025.
The parking charge amount and which parks would be included have not yet been determined. The pilot would aim to generate $39,000 from parking fees — covering the $15,000 estimated cost of the program and netting around $23,900 in additional revenue for the city’s park operations — through the end of 2025.
