Madison’s The Borough Beer Co. & Kitchen closed on Park Street after just over three years in business, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The restaurant and bar first opened in July 2022 at 444 S. Park St. in the space formerly occupied by Rockhound Brewing Co.
Sunday was the establishment’s last day in operation. The Borough is largely owned by Joe McCormick of JD McCormick Properties, the developer of the mixed-use building housing the business, called The Dude Abodes apartments.
Conflicts with operating partners, staffing issues with general managers and fines from the city were cited among reasons behind the closure. The business also reportedly could not get a brewery license because the owners own commercial real estate.
