A 4,000-square-foot year-round park shelter at Door Creek Park on Madison’s far east side is nearly finished, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The facility at 7035 Littlemore Drive plans to begin accepting event space reservations this spring.

The 160-acre park includes multipurpose fields, courts for tennis, pickleball, and basketball, and trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The new reservable park shelter joins a handful of others in the area, including at Tenney Park on the near east side and Elver Park on the far west side.

The indoor event space at the Door Creek Park shelter will have a 100-person capacity. There is also a reservable outdoor space with an overhang, a prep kitchen, public bathrooms, a storage space for equipment rentals, and a garage for park maintenance gear. The shelter also features rooftop solar panels that will provide a portion of its electricity.
