Dane County Executive Joe Parisi is proposing $2 million in funding for an economic development hub focused on helping minority-owned businesses, according to a Capital Timesreport.

The funds would help the Urban League of Greater Madison purchase a site along the South Park Street corridor to build a center modeled after the Sherman Phoenix project in Milwaukee, an incubator for small businesses that are minority-owned. Parisi says entrepreneurs will get the “support, experience, and skills” they need. A location is expected to be determined by the end of the year.
