Greg Rice, a representative of the owners of a downtown Madison building that houses offices and Paisan’s restaurant, is requesting the building be demolished, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Rice submitted a notice to the city stating he intends to tear down the 12-story building at 131 W. Wilson St. because “building is past its useful life.” The building has been closed and reopened by the city twice due to ongoing structural concerns. The underground parking garage of the building has remained closed. Paisan’s restaurant is opposed to the demolition.

Architect Kirk Keller is planning to introduce a development plan for the building at an upcoming neighborhood meeting. The proposal concept is for a 14-story building with underground parking, commercial space on the first two floors, and residential units on floors three through 14.
