The Overture Center and other organizations are asking for the public support of additional arts funding from the CARES Act to help support independent live entertainment venues in the state, according to a statement from the Overture Center.
The National Independent Venue Association has organized a statewide effort encouraging citizens to contact the governor to request this funding on behalf of their organizations and sign a Change.org petition to send a letter of support to Gov. Tony Evers and state legislators.
With venue businesses depending on national artist tours that have mostly been postponed until 2021, these businesses have lost nearly 100% of their revenue since the pandemic forced them to close their doors in March.
