The Wisconsin Public Service Commission unanimously approved a one-year electricity rate freeze and a 4.1% gas increase for Madison Gas and Electric customers, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

The Sierra Club objected to the rates, saying the settlement locks in and expands an existing high fixed monthly rate structure. The new settlement is expected to increase the average residential customer’s annual cost by $27.
