Approximately 160 workers at Oshkosh Defense will be laid off early next year, the company announced Wednesday.
The military vehicle manufacturer said layoffs are a product of “overstaffing in certain production areas” and will be effective Jan. 5, according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
Oshkosh Defense lost a bid in 2023 for a major military contract worth more than $9 billion to produce Joint Light Tactical Vehicles.
In 2021, the company began outsourcing production of USPS trucks to South Carolina.
