A plan to guide the development of the 72-acre industrial property that once housed the Oscar Mayer operations on Madison’s northside has been approved by the Madison City Council, according to a Capital Timesreport.

The plan will guide the development of the area to create a public transport and bicycle hub, a walkable commercial district, a mixed-use area, housing, and a major employment corridor. More than 2,500 new housing units for nearly 4,000 additional residents would be created under the plan for the area flanked by North Sherman, Aberg, and Packers avenues.
