The Orpheum Theater’s historic original sign is scheduled to be removed Wednesday, Sept. 9, and will be replaced with a new state-of-the-art version created by Mount Horeb-based Sign Art Studio.
While the original 1927 sign is a recognizable fixture along State Street, it has fallen into disrepair.
Owner Gus Paras intends to install an aluminum replica of the sign based on its original design that will feature modern elements like energy-saving lights.
Paras hopes to have the new sign up before winter.
