Olbrich Botanical Gardens to announce final expansion plans May 20

The Olbrich Botanical Gardens has been plugging along on expansion plans for what will be its biggest redesign since the 1990s, the Cap Times reported.   

After public input, Oblrich is ready to announce final plans at two public meetings on May 20 at noon and 6 p.m.  

The plans are robust: The Bolz Conservatory will be renovated; two new outdoor event spaces will be added, as well as a cafe;the parking lot will be moved and more.  

According to Olbrich Gardens director Tanya Zastrow, the number of visitors to the east side garden has increased by 35% in the past five years.

The project has a long timeline, with early phases to be implemented in the next two years, but the overall project spanning as many as 20.
