When Johannsen’s Greenhouses closed last summer, word was it would be replaced by an expansion of the Kayser Automotive dealership next door. Now, Kayser CEO Pat Baxter, who purchased Johannsen’s for $1.45 million, has announced that a multistory office building of up to 90,000 sq. ft. will likely fill the space instead.

Since Kayser closed on the Johannsen’s deal, American TV, on Kayser’s other side, has announced it will also close, and Baxter was able to purchase three acres Kayser had been renting from the former retailer to expand his dealership.

In 2009, Baxter partnered with Mortenson Investment Group to develop the $48 million Arbor Gate building on the opposite side of the Beltline.
