Wisconsin’s Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) and Gov. Tony Evers are urging insurers to allow small employers to keep furloughed employees and workers with reduced hours on the company’s health insurance plan, according to a release.

A 30-hour workweek description in Wisconsin’s small employer law is a minimum standard and insurers and employer policyholders can agree to offer coverage to employees working fewer than that standard if the offer is not made in an unfairly discriminatory manner.

The OCI is also urging insurers to work with small employers to provide the option of continuing dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits when those are offered as separate policies.
