Madison’s far east side will welcome its third tiny house village from Occupy Madison this fall, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The nonprofit is set to open 22 new tiny shelters for those at risk of homelessness, along with a community building that will serve as the village hub.

Three years ago, Occupy Madison purchased a 1.2-acre property at 201-205 S. Stoughton Road for $800,000 and planned to develop the site. Last June, the City Council unanimously approved rezoning the property to accommodate those plans.

Dane County funded the land purchase through a $1 million grant, which allocated $500,000 for renovations. Occupy Madison is seeking to raise an additional $250,000 to cover the remaining project expenses. Its goal is to move residents in by early October.

The organization operates two other villages, located at 304 N. Third St., and 1901 Aberg Ave., respectively.
