A variety of local organizations are running Giving Tuesday campaigns to raise funding for their missions and goals.
Empowering through bicycles
Bikes for Kids Wisconsin’s 2026 Bike Giveaway Program is running an auction that closes on Giving Tuesday.
The auction helps support bike purchases for children and adults.
A telethon for the event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2, and the auction ends during the telethon at 3 p.m.
Bikes For Kids distributes over 2,000 bikes each year.
LakeWay takes shape
Madison Lakeway received a $100,000 challenge gift from M3 Insurance to support the LakeWay, a new bicycle, running and walking path along the Lake Monona Shoreline with boardwalks over the water.
Any donation given now and through the end of the year will be doubled up to M3’s donation.
Many Madison organizations seek donations
Numerous other Madison area organizations are looking to reach donation goals.
The League of Women Voters of Dane County is trying to raise $50,000 by year’s end, and is nearly halfway there.
The International Crane Foundation also has a goal of $50,000, and is matching all donations made on Giving Tuesday. Gathering Waters also has donors who will double donations on Giving Tuesday up to $10,000.
Isthmus has a list of organizations participating in Giving Tuesday.
Avoid Giving Tuesday scams
The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions also remind potential donors to research organizations they donate to, resist high-pressure tactics and use trustworthy resources like Give.org.
“Giving Tuesday celebrates the spirit of charity and reminds us that the holidays are a time for giving back to our communities, important causes and others in need,” said Wisconsin DATCAP Secretary Randy Romanski in a statement. “An important part of donating this year is making sure your money goes to the causes and organizations you want to support — not to scammers.”
