Now a nonprofit, Isthmus print editions to resume

After publishing since 1976, Isthmus owners decided in July 2020 to no longer continue operating the business. They gifted the intellectual property to a small team of employees who transitioned the paper to a nonprofit media organization. In April of this year, the Internal Revenue Service granted 501(c)(3) status to the organization. This summer, Isthmus will relaunch the print editions in addition to its online content and continue to offer the paper for free. In fall 2020, Isthmus received a $10,000 grant from the American Press Institute to report on voting disinformation and election security.
