Pizza restaurant Novanta is closing after five years on University Avenue, the Wisconsin State Journal reports, as owner Nick Mattioli looks to focus on his original Old Sauk Road location.
Novanta’s last day at 2903 University Ave. will be June 28. Mattioli said the overhead of residence in a newer, high-rent building is incompatible with his business model, and his expenses were exceeding his income. He plans to continue his fast counter-service model at the Old Sauk location.
Novanta, which has 25 employees, has also reportedly seen increased turnover since January. Mattioli said he has also needed to send extra staff from the University Avenue restaurant to keep up with business at the original location.
