Norman Davis will retire later this year from his leadership position at Madison’s Department of Civil Rights, the Cap Times reported

He has worked for over 20 years in the department. Just eight months ago, the city investigated discrimination allegations against him from employees in the department before clearing him of violating any city policies.

Former Mayor Paul Soglin appointed Davis to be the second director of the Department of Civil Rights in 2016.

Davis said he plans to stay on through the 2027 budget process and help with the transition.
