According to an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Mark Bakken, co-founder and chief executive of Madison-based Nordic Consulting, is planning to step aside to launch an early-stage venture capital fund that will focus on health care information technology startups in Madison. The fund will be designed for entrepreneurs who develop business ideas that help the health care industry deliver care more cost-effectively.

The consulting company will be led by a four-person senior executive council headed by current president Drew Madden.

Bakken and Nordic have committed money for the new fund, and Bakken plans to work with local and national investors to attract more partners.

Nordic Consulting has revenues of $81.4 million, according to Inc. magazine, and a workforce of 475 employees who service more than 110 Epic software clients in 40 states. In September, Nordic was ranked 46th on Inc. magazine’s list of fastest-growing private companies.
