Due to heavy snowfall and strong blowing snow conditions that began this morning and are expected to continue through Saturday, all nonessential, in-person city services will be suspended today and tomorrow, according to the city of Madison. They will resume on Sunday, Jan. 14.
Emergency services, including the Madison Police and Fire Departments will not be affected by the closure. Madison Metro plans to operate regularly scheduled service; riders should expect delays due to the weather. Remote and online services such as online permitting will continue to be offered during this time and all services and departments will be accessible via phone and/or email. City facilities will not be open to the public for in-person service.
The Madison Streets Division will perform snow plowing and sand/salting operations. Madison Police, Fire and Streets Division will work closely with Dane County Emergency Management to continue monitoring conditions throughout the weather event.
