Local broadcast channels never want to lose local viewers, but it may be difficult to convince over-the-air viewers of WISC-TV (Ch. 3) and WMSN-TV (Ch. 47) of that.
While some channels, like WIFS (Ch. 57) and WHA-TV (Ch. 21) are no longer affected by an effective blackout, viewers have been unable to watch the local CBS and Fox affiliates for months as the stations complete FCC-mandated work. Frustrations are growing, according to a Wisconsin State Journalstory.
The changes were originally supposed to be completed in September and later the completion date was pushed back to early December, but now University Research Park, which is overseeing the project at 453 S. Pleasant View Road, is apparently no longer working with the original power crew and is actively looking for a replacement.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) required the channels to change their frequencies on Oct. 18 to make room for new wireless services, namely 5G.
