Roche Sequencing Solutions (fka NimbleGen Systems) recently announced that it would be closing its Madison location in 2020, including phasing out 79 jobs by June 2020, many of them skilled scientists.

In April, a group of Roche employees split off to form Nimble Therapeutics in Madison, a new biotechnology company that produces peptides, or fragments of proteins.

Nimble Therapeutics was sparked by a $10 million investment from Telegraph Hill Partners of San Francisco. The spinoff will save many of the jobs originally targeted for elimination and keep the new biotech here, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport.
