If gamers thought waggle mechanics saw their heyday come and go with the Nintendo Wii and Xbox Kinect, the Nex Playground would like a word.

The Nex Playground, a cube-shaped gaming device controlled via player motion, was the third best-selling console during Black Friday week, the Wall Street Journal reports.

This year, the Nex Playground is set to hit 600,000 sales. Last year the console sold about 150,000 units, and two years ago about 5,000.

The company is expecting revenue of over $150 million this holiday season.

The Nex Playground is unique in a couple of ways. First, the console uses only motion controls. Second, it utilizes a yearly subscription for playing games.

It is also aimed at young children as an alternative to traditional consoles to get them up and moving.

The company developing it, Nex Inc., doesn’t have a history like Nintendo or Sony, but began its life as an app developer.
