All Wisconsin high school students will be required to take a financial literacy class to graduate under a new law, according to SpectrumNews1.
Wisconsin Act 60, signed into law in December 2023, requires that students take half a credit of a financial literacy course to graduate high school. The requirement aims to prepare students for their financial future. Financial literacy courses have historically covered areas such as budgeting, debt, loans, insurance, and general cost-of-living information.
The Madison Metropolitan School District has already implemented its own financial literacy graduation requirement. The statewide requirement will go into effect for Wisconsin’s class of 2028.
