Ground will be broken this October for the Drumlin Ridge Winery in the town of Westport, and owner David Korb hopes to have the winery open by June 2016.

The family-operated winery will feature two floors, with a production facility on the lower level and a tasting room, retail, and storage on the upper floor. The adjacent vineyard will eventually hold more than 22,000 vines, including Midwest-grown grapes and a variety of fruit from California.

Korb expects the winery to produce 2,000 to 4,000 cases of wine per year, less than other local wineries like Wollersheim Winery and Botham Vineyards.
