Taigu Chinese restaurant is set to open in a new west side Madison location at the former Knoche’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The new, 5,100-square-foot restaurant at 5372 Old Middleton Road is three times the size of the original Taigu, opened by Hong Gao in the city of Middleton in 2014.
Hong is planning a soft opening on Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. The restaurant specializes in homemade Shanxi noodles and offers other Chinese staples like moo goo gai pan, General Tso’s chicken, Szechuan beef, and Kung Pao shrimp.
The original Taigu at 7610 Elmwood Ave. will remain open, but only for dinner takeout.
