A new Madison startup is working to support short-term and traveling health care professionals and students in Madison with fully furnished housing, The Capital Times reports.

Co-founders Christina Henderson, a second-year resident physician in anesthesiology, and Tyler Henry, the new business’ chief financial officer, launched Reliable Residence as an LLC this year.

To date, the business has provided housing to at least 40 users and has a Facebook page with over 17,000 members, a website and partnerships with property owners. Among these are Terrence Wall, the leader of T. Wall companies, a Middleton-based enterprise specializing in the development of multifamily and neighborhood communities, and Jeff Mack, vice president of business development for Park Bank, with experience in real estate development and property management.

Reliable Residence facilitates roommate matching for traveling nurses or students seeking to split costs in order to help health care professionals secure affordable housing.

Multiple medical systems, including UW Health, SSM Health and UnityPoint Health-Meriter, call Madison home, and UW-Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health alone has 1,700 students.

An estimated 90% of people who use Reliable Residence’s services are health professionals, according to Henderson. The demand for flexible housing is on the rise, compounded by Madison’s tight rental market — especially for short-term options.
