The Wisconsin State Journal has reported the recent opening of Mochi, a new store at 631 State St. inspired by shops co-owner Bonnie Liu frequented growing up in China.
The store carries items influenced by the Japanese concept of “Kawaii,” or cuteness, which has become a cultural phenomenon in Asia. Mochi inventory is purchased from wholesalers in Japan, Korea, and China, according to Liu.
