A new campus recreational facility has been approved by the State Building Commission and will replace UW–Madison’s Southeast Recreational Facility (SERF), which was built in 1983.

The existing gym will be demolished this summer and construction on the new $96.5 million facility will begin in October, with an anticipated opening date of fall 2019.

The new gym will offer more fitness space, basketball courts, studios, a regulation-size pool with a diving well, and spectator seating, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
