Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission verbally approved a $700 million Alliant Energy power plant near Beloit.

The natural gas-fired plant would be the state’s first fossil fuel plant to be built in almost a decade and could bring 1,000 new jobs over the course of the plant’s construction, which should begin this fall.
