Revised concept plans for UW–Madison’s West Campus were displayed at an open house Tuesday, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The plans incorporate residential and research spaces as well as a hotel.
The four new research buildings included in the plans each include retail space and are located between Willow Creek and Highland Avenue. Four market-rate apartment buildings — not intended for undergraduates — were included as well, along with three stand-alone parking ramps and expansive, tree-lined sidewalks.
The new designs respond to feedback received over the winter months, in which those surveyed requested more amenities and additional research space, which will help facilitate company partnerships with UW–Madison and university researchers.
The UW Board of Regents cannot approve building projects on its own but must appeal to the state Legislature.
