Ahead of its planned opening in mid- to late March, east side Madison’s Ohio Tavern is getting a revamp, according to the Cap Times.

Since August 1933, the building at 224 Ohio Ave. has housed a tavern. In 2016, a team from downtown cocktail spot Genna’s Lounge took over the bar, adding street tacos, nachos and karaoke nights to the Ohio Tavern’s offerings.

The four new co-owners — Mike McDonald, Stuart Pataska, Preston Brown and Jeremiah Kath — plan to keep food options mainly the same and be open six to seven days per week, although hours are still being finalized.

The tavern has seating for roughly 50 people inside and 35 outside, and two patios will be open on warm weather days. Guests seated outside will be able to bring their dogs.

The new ownership team also plans to add more events, including educational events, food pop-ups and fundraisers.
