Matthew Gutierrez, set to begin as Madison Metropolitan School District’s next superintendent on June 1, has backed out of the job, according to a story from the Wisconsin State Journal.

Gutierrez, superintendent of Seguin Independent School District in Sequin, Texas, rescinded his acceptance due to the public health crisis and his need to stay and support the students and staff in his current district.
