A new city ordinance approved this week will require developers to provide electric vehicle charging stations and wiring in most new parking lots, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
The new rules require at least 1% of all parking spaces in new multifamily residential and some commercial lots to have chargers, and 10% of the spaces to have wiring in place for future installations. The new measures are part of a push by the city to meet new sustainability goals and will also apply to existing parking lots when at least 10,000 square feet are repaved.
