Madison continues to add housing at a steady pace, according to the city’s 2025 Housing Tracker Year in Review.
The city has a goal of adding 15,000 new homes of all types by 2030. Madison added 2,328 new homes in 2025, including single-family homes and apartments.
Of the homes, 398 are offered at affordable rates below market value for people making up to 60% of the area median income of $54,540 for one person or $70,140 for a household of three people.
And 59 of those are offered at rates to those making up to 30% of the area median income.
At the end of 2025, 5,320 homes were under construction but not yet complete.
“These numbers show me that our efforts to create more homes in Madison are starting to pay off,” Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said in the online report. “I’m also very encouraged that we are seeing an increasing percentage of affordable homes, and a high number of homes under construction.”
