There is talk of a new $30 million boutique hotel going up at 122 State St., according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The mostly vacant building, as well as an adjacent building at 118 State St., would be developed into a four-story, 120-room hotel if the concept passes. The hotel’s main entrance would be on State Street, with a vehicle entrance on North Carroll Street in the back. Plans also call for a marquee restaurant with up to 100 seats, and a rooftop lounge.
The project is a partnership between Portland, Ore.-based Provenance Hotels, which is known for creating unique spaces in historic places, and two Wisconsin-based firms, Ascendant Holdings Real Estate and Central Properties of Madison. The developing team would like to open the hotel in 2018.
