A 19-unit development is set to break ground in Madison next year, adjoining an existing four-bed Hope & A Future assisted living home and belonging to the same nonprofit, The Capital Times reports. The new buildings at 1115 S. High Point Road would feature 15 independent living condominiums for people 55 and older, four workforce housing rental units, an adult day care, and a preschool.
Founders Karin Krause, a nurse, and Paula Reif, a family educator, say residents will be required to volunteer six hours per month to assist other tenants, providing services like babysitting, teaching a workshop, or running errands.
The project aims to create a new approach to senior care, with existing facilities’ demand exceeding their capacities. Hope & A Future must raise another $3.5 million to make the $10 million project a reality.
