The Beaver Dam City Council approved a resolution last week to pave the way for a development and sale agreement for a second data center in its community, Wisconsin Public Radio reported.
Expansion of a tax increment financing district was also approved, and land was rezoned to support the new data center.
Minnesota developer Oppidan Investment Co. proposed the project in February. The project will be smaller than the one Meta is building in Beaver Dam.
The city will sell 13.21 acres to Oppidan and CLOP Madison WI LLC will build a 90,000-square-foot data center on the property.
CLOP will pay the city $6.5 million for improvements to public infrastructure serving the project and reimburse the city for administrative costs. The project must be mostly completed by July 31, 2028.
