Urban Community Arts Network and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra are bringing hip–hop to Concerts on the Square for the first time in the event’s history.
Regional hip–hop artist Rob Dz will be a part of the July 1 “United in Sound” concert. The concert celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States.
“Seeing hip-hop represented on this stage alongside orchestral music is both symbolic and substantive. It sends a message about who belongs in Madison’s cultural story,” Karen Reece, president of UCAN, said in a statement.
The event is July 1 at 7 p.m., with a rain date of July 2, at the King Street corner of the Wisconsin State Capitol Square.
