A new bill in the Wisconsin Legislature would incentivize the development of new nuclear power plants via state tax credits, Wisconsin Public Radio reports.

The bill would allow nuclear power plants that begin producing energy in 2030 or later to qualify for tax credits based on energy generation. A tax credit would also be created for plants relicensed by federal regulators.

The goal of the bill is to lessen the costs of bringing nuclear energy to Wisconsin and make it a high-priority energy source.
