Madison medical device maker Neuwave Medical Inc. raised $25 million of equity funding from 38 investors, according to documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
That brings the total amount of funding the company has raised since May 2009 to $72.8 million, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Founded by UW–Madison scientists, Neuwave manufactures the Certus 140 thermal ablation system, which provides a minimally invasive treatment using microwave energy to destroy tumor cells. As an alternative to surgery, the Certus 140 is useful with some patients who are too sick to have surgery.
