A new Nepali restaurant, Ama, is set to open at 809 Williamson St., according to The Capital Times. The spot, owned by Rajan Pradhan, the former owner of Atwood Avenue restaurant Dobhan, will offer Nepali staples, Friday fish fry, and weekend brunch.
Dobhan closed in 2019 after 15 years; its building was sold and now houses Jewelers Workshop.
The Willy Street space was constructed in the 1950s as a welding studio. The concrete building comprises 1,330 square feet of space and is part of the same property as 805 Williamson St., which houses Mad Rabbit Cafe, and 807 Williamson St.
Pradhan and a team have been working to renovate the property for the past three years. The indoor space will seat 40, with a bar and booths downstairs and a mezzanine upstairs. A patio area will seat 30. A garden on-site will supply some of the produce for the restaurant.
