With the Madison Area Technical College Board of Trustees selecting the Hovde Properties/Drury Southwest plan to renovate and add to the existing downtown Madison College campus, negotiations will now proceed for a ground lease of the site.
The $132 million Hovde/Drury plan will renovate the existing building into a 197-room hotel, add two stories, and build an adjacent 10-story, 202,000-square-foot office tower with space for retail and grocery.
MATC president Jack E. Daniels will move many of the school’s programs to Madison’s south side, vacating the downtown site in early 2019.
Of five development plans considered, the Hovde/Drury plan offers MATC the most revenue going forward.
